Konner Piotto

Konner, looking over your swings from this weekend compared to a few months ago, there has been some major improvements, you look to not be dropping your hands as you use too, the swing above is on a pitch up in the zone so I am unsure what would happen on a pitch down.  It is very important that when the pitch is down in the zone we attack the pitch with your back shoulder rather than just dropping our hands at the ball.

INotice how in this swing Trout tilts his chest over the plate and is able to drive his shoulder to the ball rather than his hands.  This is a very important concept to remember as you will be unable to hit balls very hard if your hands drop away from the shoulder like this:

Like the vast majority of our hitters we can make your load and separation much better.  Your hands work down as you leg lift, which is good but your hands need to work up as your leg works towards the ground.  This is loading.  Watch your back elbow, as your front foot is going towards the ground your elbow is dropping as well, I would like to see it work up before it works down, this extra movement with your arms will keep your shoulders closed a split second longer as your hips open, this is the “separation” we are looking for.  As I have stated many times with other guys, this separation allows for adjusting to different pitch types, and creates a more powerful swing.
