Trevor Wilford

Trevor you do some really good things with your swing, I love your leg kick and how you are able to use it to adjust to different pitch types, thats a tough thing to teach and you do it better than anyone else on the team.  You also use your hips really well and have a good swing plane.  Overall you have one of the better things on the team, the one thing I think we need to work on is creating more separation in your swing, this will help you adjust to pitches more effectivley.  Separation to keep it very simple is making sure our hips are turning before our shoulders and hands.

The picture above is right when your front foot has planted into the ground.  At this point in our swing we should just be completing our load with our hands, however your hands have already begun to swing towards to ball.  So instead of the sequence being hips turning and pulling our hands through, your swing has everything turning at the same time.  This action is what causes you to pull everything.

So what we need to work on is creating a load with your hands that happens later in your swing, by having your hands loading later ( bigger/slower) your front shoulder will stay in longer which will allow for your hips to open while your shoulder stays closed.  Compare your swing above to the the hips and shoulder of the swings below.

What we need to focus on is creating a better  and later load with your hands and shoulders in order to create that separation, it will allow for a less pull happy swing and allow you to adjust to different pitchers while creating much more power, which we love.
